As a Bay Virtual School parent, you will be able to:
Monitor your Child's Progress
After your student creates an account to sign up for classes, you will create your own Parent/Guardian Account that you will use to monitor course requests and progress in each course. Click here for more information.
Support Academic Integrity
Academic Integrity is one of our core values and one of the most important areas of focus as a learning organization. Students with Academic Integrity make decisions based on ethics and values that will prepare them to be productive and ethical citizens. Read our policy on Academic Integrity.
Communicate with Teachers
Your child's teacher will be available to you on a daily basis to answer questions about the course. Each month you will be contacted by your student's teacher to talk about the course.
Plan for the Future
With our Student Advisement center and access to Guidance Counselors you can obtain information that will help you plan for the future education options for your child.
Participate in Student Activities
Each month FLVS hosts a number of online activities for you and your student to attend. You can view the Calendar of Activities here.
Parent/Guardian Account
Bay Virtual School values parents as partners. From approving course requests to monitoring progress, the Parent/Guardian Account allows parents to have a hands-on approach with their student's academic life at BVS.
With your Parent/Guardian Account you will have:
- 24-7 online access to submitted and/or graded assignments and your child's grade book
- Monthly phone calls from teachers
- Monthly progress reports emailed to parent emails
- Regular email updates from teachers
- Extensive access to teachers (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, as well as weekend hours)
How to create your Parent/Guardian Account:
- Student Completes Application: First, the student must complete the sign up process. Once the student has completed the online application he/she will receive a Student Username/ Password. You will need this Student Username/ Password to create your Parent/Guardian Account.
- Follow the instructions in this video. This video will also show you how to approve your student's course requests.
